In the last several tens of years, the society’s concern in the protection of forests as an irreplaceable constituent of environment has been increasing worldwide. The impetus to this concern was given by the destruction and devastation of tropical virgin forests.
Forest certification is a process within the framework of which an independent organization issues a written document (certificate) to confirm that forest management meets pre-determined criteria of sustainable management in forests.
WHAT IS CERTIFIED?
Forest management, which must meet the criteria of sustainable forest management.
Movement of timber from certified forests. This is referred to as a certification of the wood consumer chain (C-O-C).
Pursuant to the Memorandum of Association, FMI provides for counselling and services at forest certification in the Czech Republic.
Individual activities for organizations engaged with forest certification in the territory of the Czech Republic are assigned individually on the basis of the cooperation contract. Other services are provided based on the order for payment.

FSC CR, o.s. is a non-governmental, non-profit organization and the Czech representative in the international organization Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
FSC CR furthers:
environment friendly,
socially sound, and
economically viable forest management in the Czech Republic by means of forest certification and processing chain of certified wood and wood-based products.
