BACKGROUND
Our Institute participated at a lot of
international developing programms, mainly at the „third world“ countries as for
example forest inventory at Zaire (1974-88) investigation of forest state of the art at
Angola and Laos (1978-80), or participation of our expertsin long time projects at
Cameroun, Mosambic etc.
Current situation of forests in our country
given the big impuls for new technology creation in our forest management policy. Firstly,
the simple digital technology for data collection, storage and management was
developed.The new softwear „TOPOL for Windows“, complete GIS system, which can be used
for acquisition of graphic data, its connection with numerical dbases and, of course, for
creation of high quality forest maps, as a final output of this system, was developed as
the result of previous activities. Finally,the special superstructures for errors
limitation,operationalisation of all works and for friendly environment for users were
created and added into this system.
„TOPOL“ - original Czech product is the
program for managing geografical informations. It was specially for forestry developed and
works under MS Windows. It enables graphic data creation, maitenance, analysis and
presentation on a plotter or printer. “TOPOL“ is capable of handling both vector and
raster data equally well. It can import and export data in many industry-standard formats.
Currently, the complexsystem for forest
management plans (FMP) creation by means of fully digital metohdsexisting at Czech
republic. These methods can be simply transferred to other parts of our Earth.
