ESTABLISHMENT OF PILOT HUNTING IN MOROCCO

Aim of project:
to contribute towards incorporating hunting and game keeping into the moroccan
State Forestry Programme
Expected benefits:
- development of practical game management in Morocco (with the help of a
demonstration facility built as a part of the Project)
- support of state administration in the field of game keeping
- active protection of a selected species of fauna (aoudad)
- contribution towards economic growth in rural areas
Duration of Project:
3 years (under the basic contract the Project was to be realized in the period from
1997 to 1999, actual realization began in 1998 and the Project is to be terminated in the
year 2000)
Budget of the Project:
6 million CZK
Project Stages
1st stage (1998)
- in 1998 three short four-member working missions were sent to Morocco under the
Project
- at the czech Forest Management Institute, the work was concentrated on the
definition of the principles of game management in Morocco and the digitalization of
materials for the creation of segments of the game-management GIS
2nd stage (1999)
- in 1999, two short working missions were sent to Morocco
- at the czech Forest Institute , the work continued on the definition of the
principles of game management, the building of a game-keeping control system and the
creation of segments of the game-management GIS
3rd stage (2000)
- the pilot project will be finalized with a proposal to promote partnership
activities
