Forest Pedagogy

Based on the Foundation Deed the FMI executes educational activities. Forest pedagogy is one of tools of educational activity in forestry.

The FMI ensures the coordination of working group on forest pedagogy in the Czech Republic, which has been established by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic in 2007.

And at the international level, the FMI represents the Czech Republic in the FCN – Subgroup – Forest Pedagogics. This is a working group of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Currently, representatives of 17 European countries are members of this group.

Forest pedagogy is environmental education on forest, relations and processes taking place in forests, forest management and forest benefits to man. This is a forest pedagogy in respect to the general public.

Forest pedagogy is executed by forest pedagogues (specially trained foresters), who present to the public, children and adults, forest – own workplace and work.

Forest pedagogy is designed for school groups from kindergarten to secondary school, parents with children, adults, seniors and groups with special educational needs.

We cooperate with other forestry entities in the international forestry competition YPEF – Young People in European Forests, which is intended for pupils and students of all primary and secondary schools.
